Parking violations
More than half of the accidents identified are indirectly connected to parking.
Pedestrian an bicycle riders crash injuries remain a serious public health problem.
In Europe, where approximately 20% of all fatalities among road users involve pedestrians and cyclists [1]. In the USA in cities with populations exceeding 1 million, they account for about 35 percent. [2]
The dangers associated with parked cars are underestimated or not perceived at all in public perception – althoughthe accident figures allow a clear conclusion: one in four pedestrian accidents and 15 percent of all bicycle accidents in urban areas are related to parking, according to accident research by the insurers (UDV[4]).
Mostly due to a lack of public awareness that parking violation is the frequent cause of accidents especially due to parked vehicles that restricted the view of the cross road and sidewalk users.

Decreasing the view obstruction related violations will help protect residents and visitors as they move around.
Decrease in indiscipline of road users leaving vehicles in prohibited areas that obstruct the movement of other vehicles will increase the traffic flow by preventing traffic jams caused by parking violations.
Among the others CityScanner may record and report on:
-
The vehicles stopped at a pedestrian crossing or crossing for cyclists and at a distance of fewer than 10 m before this crossing.
-
The vehicle parked less than 10 m from the front of a road sign or signal if it is obstructed by the vehicle.
-
The cars that have been left in a forbidden place and at the same time obstructing the movement of vehicles, pedestrians or poses a threat to safety.
-
The vehicles parked on a cycle path, cycle lane.
-
Other safety violations like blocking crosswalks, fire hydrants, or bike lanes.
